42 years and counting
Tomorrow I will have been Married to Miss. Jennifer for 42 years. Let that sink in. My Anniversary every year gives me an opportunity to think back to the days before we were married and remember how much I wanted to marry her the second time I saw her. (The first time was when she was 14 and we rode together in the back seat of Carl and Debbie’s car from the church to the fellowship hall. For some reason I didn’t fall in love with her then, huh). The second time though was much different. I was sitting in a chair against the wall of the Peoria Fellowship hall and I bowed my head and said a quick prayer… “Lord, I’m tired of being single. When I look up, the first girl I see is who I want to marry.” When I opened my eyes, there she was, wearing a blue blouse and a matching blue checkered skirt…and Oh those legs! I instantly thought…”I could live with her the rest of my life.” And so I went over and introduced myself. She said her name was Jenny Waibel and I was head over heels in love with her. As I sit here in my library after forty -two years, twenty-one grandkids, five lovely daughters, and five handsome Godly Son-In-Laws, I still am. Praise God, I still am.
